The Hioki 3276 Clamp On Probe is a wide-band AC/DC current probe covering DC to 100 MHz, designed for direct connection to the BNC input of an oscilloscope or recorder. Part of Hioki's 3270 series of clamp-on probes, the 3276 uses a newly developed indium-antimony (InSb) thin-film Hall element in its sensor head to detect current across a wide frequency range with high sensitivity.

The 3276 is used for current waveform observation in applications where a circuit break for a shunt or CT insertion is impractical. The datasheet illustrates waveform examples including 1 kHz and 1 MHz square wave response, transient response measurement, and low-current sine wave measurement at 10 mAp-p — applications spanning from milliampere-level signal observation up to the 30 Arms continuous rating.

Brand Heritage

Hioki E.E. Corporation is a Japanese precision measurement company founded in 1935, headquartered in Ueda, Nagano Prefecture. Hioki has operated continuously under the same name with no major corporate acquisitions or rebrands affecting its test and measurement product line, and its U.S. operations are conducted through Hioki USA Corporation.

Compare Other Models in This Series

Hioki's 3270 series of clamp-on probes provides wide-band current waveform observation with direct BNC output to oscilloscopes and recorders. The series spans four models — the 3273-50, 3274, 3275, and 3276 — covering bandwidths from DC to 2 MHz through DC to 100 MHz and continuous current ratings from 30 Arms up to 500 Arms. Each model shares the same architectural concept: a Hall-element sensor head with an in-line termination unit and BNC output for direct oscilloscope connection.

The series is positioned for current waveform observation tasks where conventional shunt or CT insertion is impractical due to the need for a circuit break. The datasheet's waveform examples — lighting inverter current, press machine load current, and automobile starter current — illustrate the range of applications the family addresses, from milliampere-level signal currents to several hundred amps of motor inrush.

Each new 3270-series model below is listed on its own product page with condition-matched pricing. Use the comparison table to identify the model whose bandwidth and continuous current rating match the measurement application, then click through to the corresponding model page for full specifications, current availability, and to request a quote.

The 3276 occupies the top of the 3270 series in terms of bandwidth, extending the upper frequency limit to 100 MHz (-3 dB) with a 3.5 ns rise time — the fastest in the family. Like the 3273-50, it carries a 30 Arms continuous rating and a 5 mm maximum conductor diameter. The bandwidth advantage over the 3273-50 (50 MHz) makes the 3276 appropriate for applications where higher-frequency switching components or fast edges must be resolved in the current waveform.

The four 3270-series models differ primarily along two axes: bandwidth and continuous current rating. The 3273-50 (DC to 50 MHz, 30 Arms) and 3276 (DC to 100 MHz, 30 Arms) are the low-current, high-bandwidth members of the family, both with 5 mm maximum conductor diameter and 0.1 V/A output rate. The 3274 (DC to 10 MHz, 150 Arms) and 3275 (DC to 2 MHz, 500 Arms) trade bandwidth for higher current capability, with 20 mm maximum conductor diameter and 0.01 V/A output rate.

The comparison table below summarizes the headline specifications across the four models. Select the model whose bandwidth covers the highest frequency content of interest in the current waveform, and whose continuous current rating accommodates the expected steady-state load with adequate margin for any peak or inrush conditions.

Model Frequency Bandwidth Continuous Max Input Output Voltage Rate
CT6863 DC to 500 kHz (amplitude) 200 A AC/DC rated (400 A max with derating) 2 V / rated current value
3273-50 DC to 50 MHz (-3 dB) 30 Arms 0.1 V/A
3274 DC to 10 MHz (-3 dB) 150 Arms 0.01 V/A
3275 DC to 2 MHz (-3 dB) 500 Arms 0.01 V/A

Important: Maximum rated voltage to earth: 300 V CAT I (insulated conductors only). Do not use on bare conductors.Important: WARNING: To avoid short circuits and electric shock accidents when using a clamp-on sensor, use only with power lines carrying voltages within the rating limit of the sensor.Important: WARNING: To avoid short circuits and electric shock accidents when the clamp-on sensor is open, do not use on bare conductors.Important: Clamp On Probes 3273-50 / 3274 / 3275 / 3276 require a Power Supply 3269 or 3272 for general measurements or when power is not available from the Memory HiCorder. When performing continuous measurements, be aware of offset voltage drift. Power supply is sold separately.Important: AC/DC Current Sensors CT6862, CT6863, CT6865, and 9709 (and -05 variants) cannot be used alone. They require a Sensor Unit (CT9555, CT9556, or CT9557) to supply power and provide BNC waveform output. Sensor Unit is sold separately.Important: Clamp On Sensor 9272-10 cannot be used alone. The optional Sensor Unit is required in order to supply power and connect the clamp to a Memory HiCorder or other instrument. (The clamp can be directly connected to compatible Power Meters.)Important: BNC output equipment must have an input impedance of 1 MΩ or more.Important: The 9272-10 has different output wiring than the previous 9272. Both the 9318 and 9705 are required in order to connect to the F/V Unit 8940.Recommended pairing: when the 3276 is used without an oscilloscope FET-probe power outlet, the Hioki 3269 (4-channel) or Hioki 3272 (1-channel) Power Supply provides the required ±12 V power for the probe.
