The BK Precision 9140 Series is a family of triple-output multi-range DC power supplies that combines three independent, galvanically isolated floating output channels in a compact 2U half-rack chassis. Each channel produces up to 100 W of regulated DC power, and the three channels together deliver up to 300 W. The series includes two models: the 9140 at 0 to 32 V and 0 to 8 A per channel, and the 9141 at 0 to 60 V and 0 to 4 A per channel. Both models share the same chassis, the same control architecture, and the same interface set.

Triple-output bench supplies of this class are used to power devices that need several independent rails simultaneously — for example a logic rail, an analog rail, and an auxiliary or bias supply on the same board. The datasheet positions the 9140 Series for benchtop or rackmount applications requiring multiple outputs, precise test sequence generation, and use cases that benefit from a flexible power range delivered in a lightweight, compact package. The series is also suited to applications that require startup power sequencing for microcontrollers and other processing devices, which the datasheet calls out specifically alongside the channel coupling and output delay features.

Brand Heritage

BK Precision was founded in 1951 and operates as BK Precision Corporation, headquartered in Yorba Linda, California. The company has remained under the BK Precision name throughout its history and is part of a group that includes the French subsidiary Sefram (Saint-Étienne, France), B+K Precision Taiwan, and B&K Brasil. There is no successor brand to track — instruments branded BK Precision today come from the same corporate lineage that has supplied test equipment under this name for more than six decades.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The 9140 Series consists of two models that share an identical chassis, control system, and interface set, and that differ only in the voltage and current rating of each output channel. Both models provide three independent, galvanically isolated 100 W channels for 300 W total. Both implement the same multi-range output curve, the same list mode programming, the same channel coupling and series/parallel combine modes, and the same USB, LAN, and optional GPIB interfaces.

The choice between the two models is fundamentally a question of where on the voltage-current plane the user's loads sit. The 9140 covers 0 to 32 V at up to 8 A per channel, which is the more common range for digital and low-voltage analog work. The 9141 covers 0 to 60 V at up to 4 A per channel, which extends into higher-voltage analog, telecom, and battery-emulation territory at the cost of per-channel current.

Each model below is listed as its own product page with new-matched pricing. The GPIB-equipped variants (9140-GPIB, 9141-GPIB) are separate part numbers from the base USB/LAN versions and are listed individually.

The headline differences between the two models are the per-channel voltage and current ratings and the resulting series/parallel combine capabilities. Three 9140 channels combined in series reach up to 96 V; three 9141 channels in series reach up to 180 V. Three 9140 channels in parallel reach up to 24 A; three 9141 channels in parallel reach up to 12 A. Total combined output power remains 300 W on both models.

Several precision specifications differ correspondingly. Voltage programming and readback accuracy is 0.03% + 4 mV on the 9140 versus 0.03% + 8 mV on the 9141. Normal mode voltage ripple is 1 mVrms / 5 mVpp on the 9140 versus 2 mVrms / 10 mVpp on the 9141. Output rise and fall times are 10 ms on the 9140 versus 20 ms on the 9141 (at full load and no load for rise; at full load for fall).

Model Voltage per Channel Current per Channel Max Power per Channel
9141-GPIB 0 to 60 V 0 to 4 A 100 W
9140 0 to 32 V 0 to 8 A 100 W
9140-GPIB 0 to 32 V 0 to 8 A 100 W
9141 0 to 60 V 0 to 4 A 100 W
