The PSA Series II is a range of portable RF spectrum analyzers from Aim-TTi, comprising the PSA1302, covering 1 MHz to 1.3 GHz, and the PSA2702, covering 1 MHz to 2.7 GHz. It builds on the earlier PSA-T series to offer a lightweight, truly handheld instrument with an extensive feature set, an improved user interface, and a ruggedised casing with rubberised buffers top and bottom plus a removable screen protector and sun-shield for field use.

A spectrum analyzer displays signal amplitude across a range of frequencies, letting an engineer observe signals in the frequency domain to reveal information that cannot be seen by looking in the time domain with an oscilloscope. The PSA Series II is suited to both bench-top RF work and field work. Listed traditional field applications include antenna alignment, signal strength mapping, interference analysis, covert transmitter detection, spurious emissions, and EMC evaluations, with its wide span supporting investigation of equipment emissions for compliance with EMC requirements relating to CE or FCC approvals. Listed development and servicing uses include RF amplifier block design, oscillator and mixer design, power measurements, impedance matching measurement, IF section alignment, RFID measurements, site evaluations, and transmitted power measurements.

ValueTronics supports the PSA Series II from its own 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where we stock and hold our own inventory rather than sourcing to order.

Brand Heritage

Aim-TTi is the brand name under which Thurlby Thandar Instruments Ltd, a United Kingdom test and measurement manufacturer, designs and markets its products. The company was formed through the merger of Thurlby Electronics and Thandar Electronics.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The PSA Series II comprises two models that share a common handheld platform and differ in their upper frequency limit: the PSA1302 covers 1 MHz to 1.3 GHz and the PSA2702 covers 1 MHz to 2.7 GHz. Both use the same 4.3-inch colour touch-screen, ruggedised casing, Li-ion battery, 1.8 GB internal memory, USB host and device interfaces, and selectable 1 MHz, 280 kHz, and 15 kHz resolution bandwidths.

Beyond frequency coverage, both models share the same amplitude measurement architecture, marker and trace functions, zero span AM/FM demodulation, and accessory ecosystem. The optional U01 firmware upgrade applies equally to either model, and USC variants bundle that upgrade with field accessories.

Each model below is its own dedicated product page with new-matched pricing. Select the model whose frequency coverage matches your application, then choose the condition that fits your budget and requirements.

The defining difference between the two models is the upper frequency limit and corresponding maximum span: the PSA1302 reaches 1.3 GHz with a maximum span of 1299 MHz, while the PSA2702 reaches 2.7 GHz with a maximum span of 2699 MHz. The comparison table that follows summarises these per-model values.

Both models otherwise carry identical specifications and are available as standard products or as USC versions (PSA1302USC and PSA2702USC) that add the pre-installed U01 firmware upgrade, the WB-ANT telescopic antenna, the PSA-VC vehicle charger, and the PSA2-SC travel case. Choose the 2.7 GHz model when coverage above 1.3 GHz is required; otherwise the 1.3 GHz model covers the same lower range.

Model Frequency Range Maximum Span Resolution Bandwidth
PSA1302 1 MHz to 1300 MHz 1299 MHz 1 MHz, 280 kHz, or 15 kHz
PSA2702 1 MHz to 2700 MHz 2699 MHz 1 MHz, 280 kHz, or 15 kHz
PSA1302USC 1 MHz to 1300 MHz 1299 MHz 1 MHz, 280 kHz, or 15 kHz
PSA2702USC 1 MHz to 2700 MHz 2699 MHz 1 MHz, 280 kHz, or 15 kHz

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
