View full details

The Rigol SPA-800 Series is a family of digital IF spectrum analyzers spanning 9 kHz to 7.5 GHz, available in three frequency tiers: the SPA-815 (to 1.5 GHz), SPA-832 (to 3.2 GHz), and SPA-875 (to 7.5 GHz). All three models share the same all-digital IF architecture, 8-inch WVGA display, and a compact benchtop form factor measuring 361.6 mm x 178.8 mm x 128 mm.

A spectrum analyzer shows signal energy distributed across a range of frequencies — the frequency-domain view of what signals are present, at what frequency, and at what power level. The SPA-800 Series is designed for RF design and characterization, EMC pre-compliance testing (EMI filter and quasi-peak detector kit included), and educational applications. The included tracking generator extends utility into scalar component characterization — filter passband measurement, amplifier gain flatness, and cable insertion loss.

Brand Heritage

Rigol Technologies is a Chinese test and measurement manufacturer that has expanded its presence in the global professional T&M market over the past two decades. Rigol maintains its own brand and product development; the SPA-800 Series is distributed through authorized partners including Com-Power Corporation.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The SPA-800 Series consists of three models that share an identical all-digital IF architecture, display, and feature set — differing primarily in maximum frequency coverage and certain RF performance specifications. The SPA-815 covers 9 kHz to 1.5 GHz, the SPA-832 extends to 3.2 GHz, and the SPA-875 reaches 7.5 GHz. All three include a tracking generator covering the instrument's frequency range, EMI filter and quasi-peak detector kit for pre-compliance work, and 8-inch WVGA display.

Beyond frequency range, the SPA-832 and SPA-875 share improved RF specifications relative to the SPA-815 — including lower phase noise (<-98 dBc/Hz vs. <-80 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset), tighter level measurement uncertainty (<0.8 dB vs. <1.5 dB nominal), and a 10 Hz minimum resolution bandwidth (versus 100 Hz on the SPA-815). Preamplifier coverage is standard on the SPA-815 (20 dB nominal) and available as an option on the SPA-832 (PA-DSA832) and SPA-875 (PA-DSA875) at 17 dB nominal.

Each new SPA-800 model linked below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing, current inventory status, and accessory configuration details. Confirm the specific model that matches your frequency coverage requirement and any required options before issuing a purchase order.

The SPA-875 is the top-tier model in the SPA-800 family, covering 9 kHz to 7.5 GHz. It shares the improved RF specifications of the SPA-832 (10 Hz minimum RBW, <-98 dBc/Hz phase noise at 10 kHz offset, <0.8 dB level measurement uncertainty) while extending coverage through the 3.2 GHz to 7.5 GHz range — relevant for applications addressing the upper WiFi bands, ISM bands, and lower microwave work.

The model decision is primarily driven by maximum frequency requirement. For applications below 1.5 GHz where premium phase noise is not required, the SPA-815 offers integrated 20 dB preamplifier as standard. For applications requiring 10 Hz minimum RBW, improved phase noise, and tighter level uncertainty — but only sub-3.2 GHz coverage — the SPA-832 is appropriate. For applications requiring coverage above 3.2 GHz (WiFi 5 GHz band, ISM bands above 3 GHz, lower microwave), the SPA-875 is required.

The optional preamplifier (PA-DSA832 or PA-DSA875) improves DANL by approximately 20–25 dB relative to PA-off operation and is a meaningful investment for applications measuring low-level signals near the instrument's noise floor. Reference the comparison table that follows for the specific frequency, RBW, phase noise, and DANL specifications by model.

Model Frequency Range Phase Noise @ 10 kHz Offset Min RBW
SPA-815TGE 9 kHz to 1.5 GHz <-80 dBc/Hz 100 Hz
SPA-832TGE 9 kHz to 3.2 GHz <-98 dBc/Hz 10 Hz
SPA-875TGE 9 kHz to 7.5 GHz <-98 dBc/Hz 10 Hz

When fc ≥ 10 MHz, input level >+25 dBm with preamplifier off engages the protection switch.Important: Note (Max damage level): When fc ≥ 10 MHz, input level > +25 dBm and PA is Off, the protection switch will be on.Important: All charts in this manual are the measurement results of multiple instruments at room temperature unless otherwise noted. The specifications (except the TG specifications) listed in this manual are those when the tracking generator is off.Important: USB Disk is not supplied with the instrument; user-provided storage required for external mass memory.Important: The preamplifier is standard on the SPA-815 and is an option (PA-DSA832, PA-DSA875) on the SPA-832 and SPA-875 models.Recommended pairing: use the included tracking generator (output 100 kHz to instrument frequency range) with the optional VSWR Bridge (VB1020/VB1040/VB1080) for return loss and VSWR characterization of RF components.
