The Agilent E8663D PSG is a fully synthesized RF analog signal generator built around high output power, low phase noise, and optional ramp sweep capability. Frequency coverage is set by the installed frequency option: Option 503 spans 100 kHz to 3.2 GHz, and Option 509 spans 100 kHz to 9 GHz. CW frequency resolution is 0.001 Hz, with 0.01 Hz resolution across the sweep modes, and the internal timebase reference supports an external 10 MHz reference input as well as a 10 MHz reference output.

A signal generator supplies a known, controllable stimulus used to drive a device or system under test so that its response can be measured. The E8663D supports basic swept measurements when used with the Agilent 8757D scalar network analyzer, and it offers two-tone master/slave operation in which two PSGs synchronously track each other with independent control of start and stop frequencies. For automated environments, it emulates the command sets of several earlier signal generators, providing general compatibility with ATE systems and with the E5500 phase noise system.

ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every used unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. Holding our own stock lets us match the right instrument and configuration to your application and ship it promptly.

> **Important:** Maximum reverse power into the RF output: 1/2 Watt, 0 VDC.

> **Important:** During storage below -20 °C, instrument states may be lost.

> **Important:** Phase noise specifications are not warranted in a vibrating environment.

> **Important:** For master/slave (two-tone) operation, use Agilent part number 8120-8806 master/slave interface cable.

> **Important:** When executing power search with ALC off, RF power will be present for typically 10 to 50 ms; the step attenuator (Option 1E1) can be set to automatically switch to maximum attenuation to protect sensitive devices.

> Recommended pairing: use the E8663D with the Agilent 8757D scalar network analyzer for swept measurements, per the ramp sweep compatibility listed for Option 007.
