The Keysight M9384B VXG is a microwave signal generator covering 1 MHz to 44 GHz, designed for demanding signal generation applications including 5G NR FR1 and FR2 component and device characterization. The instrument is offered in single-channel and dual-channel configurations and supports modulation bandwidths up to 2 GHz, making it suitable for wideband signal simulation across the full sub-6 GHz and mmWave ranges.

Per the datasheet, the VXG generates signals for testing across 5G NR FR2 bands and intermediate frequencies, 5G NR FR1 bands, and LTE applications. Specified EVM performance is documented at frequencies including 3.4 GHz, 10 GHz, 12 GHz, 24.5 GHz, 28 GHz, 39 GHz, and 42.5 GHz for FR2, and at 2.3 GHz, 3.55 GHz, and 4.9 GHz for FR1. The instrument also supports vector modulation via internal baseband generation or external I/Q inputs (Option EXT), and pulse modulation for radar and time-gated applications when configured with Option PMR or PME.

ValueTronics International stocks, tests, and supports the Keysight M9384B VXG and related microwave signal generators from our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Since 1992 we have specialized in providing both new and pre-owned test and measurement instruments to engineering, defense, and wireless development customers across North America. Our in-house technicians inspect and verify every pre-owned VXG configuration before shipment, and our staff can assist with option string review, calibration scheduling, and accessory pairing to ensure the instrument arrives ready for your specific application.

## Brand Heritage

Keysight Technologies was established in 2014 as a spin-off of the electronic measurement business previously operated by Agilent Technologies, which itself was spun out of Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement division in 1999. The VXG product family continues the lineage of microwave signal generators developed under the HP, Agilent, and now Keysight names.

## Compare Other Models in This Series

The VXG family includes two platforms: the M9384B VXG, a benchtop-form-factor microwave signal generator, and the M9383B VXG-m, a modular PXIe-based implementation of the same architecture. Both share the same frequency coverage options (F14, F20, F32, F44), modulation bandwidth options (D05 through D2E), and software feature set, allowing users to select the form factor that best fits their lab or system integration requirements.

Frequency configurations span 1 MHz to 14 GHz (F14), 1 MHz to 20 GHz (F20), 1 MHz to 31.8 GHz (F32), and 1 MHz to 44 GHz (F44). Options F14, F20, and F32 are available on the M9384B only. Additional differentiation comes from baseband generator sample rate (Options D05/D06 at 625 MHz, D10/D11 at 1.28 GHz, D20/D21/D2E at 2.56 GHz), arbitrary waveform memory (256 MSa standard, 512 MSa with M05, 1024 MSa with M10), and channel count (single-channel or dual-channel with Option 002 and PCH).

Each pre-owned VXG configuration listed below is its own product page with condition-matched pricing, available option strings, and accessory disclosures. Click through to the specific model and option configuration that matches your application requirements.

The M9384B is the benchtop VXG with an integrated 10.6-inch (26.9 cm) touch display at 1280 x 768 resolution, removable 240 GB solid state drive, and front-panel connectors for RF output, I/Q baseband I/O, pulse modulation, and reference signals. Physical dimensions are approximately 578 mm x 445 mm x 190 mm, with weight ranging from 29 kg (single-channel F14/F20) to 35 kg (dual-channel F32/F44).

The primary architectural difference between the M9384B and M9383B is form factor: the M9384B is a self-contained benchtop instrument, while the M9383B is a set of PXIe modules (M9312B, M9314B, M9323A, M9343A, M9347A) requiring an M9043A PXIe chassis. The M9383B is offered only with Option F44 (1 MHz to 44 GHz) per the datasheet's Frequency section.

Maximum power consumption differs slightly between platforms: 640 W single-channel and 1000 W dual-channel for the M9384B, versus 630 W single-channel and 990 W dual-channel for the M9383B. Connector types also differ in several places—for example, the M9384B uses BNC female for 10 MHz Out while the M9383B uses SMB male. Refer to the comparison table for the specific differences relevant to your integration.
