The Anritsu MT8862A Wireless Connectivity Test Set is a benchtop instrument designed for measuring the RF transmit and receive characteristics of WLAN equipment. It uses standard WLAN protocol messaging — referred to as WLAN signalling — to establish a network connection with the device under test before performing RF measurements. This Network Mode capability, together with support for Direct Mode, is the central architectural feature of the platform.

Anritsu identifies the MT8862A's intended applications as design verification and manufacturing inspection of WLAN devices, with end-customer device types including smartphones, tablets, smart appliances, wearable devices, gateways, automotive electronics, and smart grid equipment. The instrument supports both AP-side and STA-side testing: it can simulate an access point to test station-mode devices such as smartphones and PCs, or simulate a station to test access points, routers, and gateways. Over-the-Air (OTA) test setups using anechoic and reverberation chambers are also supported, with Anritsu noting alignment to CTIA and Wi-Fi Alliance CWG recommendations for Total Radiated Power and Total Isotropic Sensitivity measurements.

**Important:** The MX886200A WLAN Measurement Software is required for measurement operation and requires the MT8862A-001 RF Frequency hardware option. Specific test capability requires the corresponding software options: 802.11ac measurement requires MX886200A-001, 802.11ax measurement requires MX886200A-002, 2×2 MIMO receiver sensitivity testing requires MX886200A-010 (supports IEEE 802.11n/ac only), and secure connections (WEP/WPA-Personal/WPA2-Personal) require MX886200A-020. Confirm the installed option string against your application requirement before deployment.**Important:** MT8862A-001 (RF Frequency 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz) is the basic hardware configuration required to enable the receiver and transmitter frequency ranges.**Important:** MX886200A WLAN Measurement Software is the basic software configuration and requires MT8862A-001.**Important:** 802.11ac connection and 802.11ac Tx/Rx measurement require the MX886200A-001 option.**Important:** 802.11ax connection and 802.11ax Tx/Rx measurement require the MX886200A-002 option.**Important:** 2x2 MIMO receiver sensitivity measurement requires the MX886200A-010 option and supports IEEE802.11n/ac only.**Important:** Secure WLAN connections (WEP, WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal) require the MX886200A-020 option.**Important:** Adjacent channel rejection and nonadjacent channel rejection measurements require an external signal generator, which is sold separately.**Important:** IP Data Transfer using Connection Verification Test does not support MIMO and does not support 802.11ax.**Important:** USB connector on the rear panel is provided for feature expansion and is currently not supported.Recommended pairing: 2×2 MIMO receiver sensitivity and transmit power testing under IEEE 802.11n/ac requires two MT8862A units operating as Master and Slave, synchronized via the rear-panel Expansion I/O connector and Anritsu J1777A Expansion IO Cable. A switching hub is used to provide Ethernet connectivity to both units from a single PC controller.
