The Extech EZ40 EzFlex Combustible Gas Detector is a handheld leak-detection instrument designed to identify and pinpoint the presence of combustible gases using a solid-state sensor paired with a 16-inch flexible gooseneck probe. The instrument is a single-hand operation tool with a thumb-controlled sensitivity adjustment, allowing the technician to dial out background gas levels and isolate the source of a leak.

The EZ40 is used to detect a wide range of combustible and hazardous gases, including natural gas, methane, ethane, propane, butane, acetone, alcohol, ammonia, steam, gasoline, jet fuel, hydrogen sulfide, smoke, industrial solvents, lacquer thinner, and naphtha. Carbon monoxide is detected but not quantified. The flexible gooseneck design is specifically intended for locating small leaks in hard-to-reach locations where a rigid probe cannot maneuver.
