The Anritsu MS2690A is a high-performance signal analyzer covering 50 Hz to 6.0 GHz, part of the MS269xA family that also includes the MS2691A (to 13.5 GHz) and MS2692A (to 26.5 GHz). The platform combines spectrum analyzer, signal analyzer, and optional vector signal generator functions in a single instrument, designed to support transmitter characterization, modulation analysis, and wideband signal capture from a single bench position.

Per the datasheet, the MS269xA is positioned for transmitter characteristics evaluation, wireless modulation analysis, parts and component testing as a reference signal source, and receiver characteristics evaluation when configured with the vector signal generator option. The instrument's FFT-based signal analyzer captures wideband signals for analysis in both time and frequency domains, with applications including data sharing between R&D and manufacturing, laboratory analysis of field-captured signals, and reproduction of captured waveforms for repeatable testing.

## Brand Heritage

Anritsu Corporation is a Japanese precision measurement company with origins dating to 1895. Anritsu's RF and microwave instrument portfolio was significantly broadened through its 1993 acquisition of Wiltron Company in the United States, which established Anritsu's strong North American presence in signal analyzers, vector network analyzers, and signal generators.

## Compare Other Models in This Series

The MS269xA family consists of three models that share an identical signal analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and optional vector signal generator architecture, differing only in their maximum frequency coverage. The MS2690A covers 50 Hz to 6.0 GHz, the MS2691A extends to 13.5 GHz, and the MS2692A reaches 26.5 GHz. All three models share the same total level accuracy specification of ±0.3 dB typical within the 50 Hz to 6.0 GHz basic band, the same 177 dB dynamic range capability, the same standard 31.25 MHz analysis bandwidth (expandable to 125 MHz with options 077 and 078), and the same built-in measurement function suite.

Per the datasheet, the architectural distinction between the models lies in the high-band coverage above 6 GHz. The MS2690A uses only the basic band path and has no preselector. The MS2691A and MS2692A add preselected high-band paths covering 5.9 GHz to 13.5 GHz (MS2691A) and 5.9 GHz to 26.5 GHz (MS2692A) in Normal frequency band mode, with mixer harmonic orders of 1 (5.9 to 13.5 GHz), 2− (13.4 to 20.0 GHz), and 2+ (19.9 to 26.5 GHz).

Each model in the MS269xA family is listed as its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. pre-owned availability for any specific model depends on current inventory — contact a Test Architect to confirm the configuration, installed options, and calibration status of the specific unit being quoted.

The MS2690A is the 6 GHz member of the MS269xA family, covering the full basic band frequency range without a preselector. Per the datasheet, the MS2690A does not have a high-band path and therefore the MS2691A/MS2692A-003 Extension of Preselector Lower Limit to 3 GHz option does not apply. The MS2692A-067 Microwave Preselector Bypass option also does not apply to the MS2690A. All standard measurement functions, the 31.25 MHz standard analysis bandwidth, and the 62.5/125 MHz analysis bandwidth extension options (077/078) operate identically on the MS2690A within its 50 Hz to 6.0 GHz range.

The primary specification differences between models track to the high-band frequency coverage. Maximum frequency coverage is 6.0 GHz (MS2690A), 13.5 GHz (MS2691A), and 26.5 GHz (MS2692A). The MS2691A and MS2692A include a preselector covering 5.9 GHz upward, with the optional 003 retrofit extending the preselector lower limit to 3.0 GHz in Spurious frequency band mode. The MS2692A-067 Microwave Preselector Bypass option, which bypasses the preselector to improve RF and in-band frequency characteristics across 6.0 GHz to 26.5 GHz, can only be installed in the MS2692A.

DANL specifications also differ above 6 GHz. Per the datasheet, displayed average noise level reaches −151 dBm/Hz (6.0 to 10.0 GHz), −150 dBm/Hz (10.0 to 13.5 GHz), −147 dBm/Hz (13.5 to 20.0 GHz, MS2692A only), and −143 dBm/Hz (20.0 to 26.5 GHz, MS2692A only), measured at RBW 1 Hz with video averaging and 0 dB input attenuator. Within the shared 50 Hz to 6.0 GHz basic band, all three models meet the same DANL, dynamic range, and total level accuracy specifications. See the comparison table that follows for option compatibility and frequency-dependent specification differences.

**Important:** Maximum CW average input power: +30 dBm with input attenuator ≥10 dB (without preamplifier). With the 6 GHz Preamplifier option enabled, maximum CW average input power: +10 dBm at 0 dB input attenuator. Maximum DC voltage: 0 Vdc at the RF input.**Important:** Specifications are values after a 30-minute warm-up at a constant ambient temperature. Typical (typ.) values are not guaranteed specifications.**Important:** Microwave Preselector Bypass (Opt. 067) bypasses the image response elimination filter when set to On; therefore, this function is not appropriate for spurious measurement that requires receiving the image response. Opt. 067 can only be installed in MS2692A.**Important:** Opt. 078 Analysis Bandwidth Extension to 125 MHz requires Opt. 077 (Analysis Bandwidth Extension to 62.5 MHz) to be installed first.**Important:** MS2692A-067 Microwave Preselector Bypass cannot be installed simultaneously with MS2692A-003 (Preselector Extended Lower Limit) or MS2692A-008 (6 GHz Preamplifier).**Important:** The J1373A AUX Conversion Adapter is not a standard accessory for the MS269xA-020/120 Vector Signal Generator Option and must be ordered separately for BNC access to the Aux connector.**Important:** Noise Figure Measurement Function (Opt. 017) requires an external Noise Source (Noisecom NC346 series recommended); the noise source is not included.**Important:** Amplitude errors may occur in digitized IQ data at a probability of 0.0001 ppm or less (AD converter maker nominal specifications) when the Analysis Bandwidth Extension 62.5 MHz/125 MHz option operates at the 50/62.5/100/125 MHz bandwidth setting.Recommended pairing: when using noise sources output by DC for noise figure measurement with Opt. 017, the Anritsu K261 DC Block (10 kHz to 40 GHz) is required per the datasheet's recommended DC block/adapter combinations table.
