It pinpoints bad capacitors and inductors in-circuit, and is described as the only tester that dynamically analyzes capacitors out of circuit for all four failures: value, equivalent series resistance (ESR), leakage, and dielectric absorption (DA). The system is built to test a wide range of industrial components: IGBTs, SCRs, switching transformers, power transistors, capacitors (including mica and industrial capacitors), and power diodes. It tests IGBTs, Triacs, SCRs, diodes, FETs, and bipolar transistors at full voltage, and automatically applies the proper gate or base signal to turn on three-leaded power components. Surface-mount components can be tested in-circuit using the AP291 adjustable test probe.
