The Tektronix P6316 is a 16-channel digital probe that connects the Tektronix MSO2000 Series of mixed-signal oscilloscopes to the digital buses and signals on a target system. It breaks out its 16 data channels over two 2x8-pin headers, designated GROUP 1 and GROUP 2, where each header carries eight signal connections on one row and eight ground connections along the opposite row. A pair of interchangeable flying lead sets is included, each providing one ground connection on each end together with eight signal leads for attaching to individual test points.

On a mixed-signal bench the P6316 is used to view digital signals on a system bus, working alongside analog probes such as the Tektronix P6139A or P2221 that capture analog waveform information. After the probe output is connected to the oscilloscope and the leads to the circuit, the D15-D0 button sets and displays each digital channel's threshold voltage and vertical position, the signal height applied across all 16 channels, and channel labels, with default thresholds of 1.4 V. The B1 and B2 buttons configure bus characteristics including clock type, bus type (serial or parallel), bus width, and display format in Hex, Binary, or ASCII.

ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a secure 20,000 square-foot warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, so customers buy from a company that physically keeps the equipment it sells.

> **Important:** Maximum nondestructive input signal to the probe: ±40 V p-p.

> **Important:** Parallel bus setup information is resident on the MSO Family of oscilloscopes; however, for other buses such as CAN and I2C, you must have the appropriate application key. See your oscilloscope manual or product data sheet for nomenclature and ordering details.

> **Important:** Connect the probe output to the measurement instrument before connecting the probe to the circuit under test. Disconnect the probe input and the probe ground from the circuit under test before disconnecting the probe from the measurement instrument.

> Usage tip: pair the P6316 with Tektronix P6139A or P2221 analog probes to view analog waveform information alongside the digital signals on the bus.
